Let's get started

Why does artificial turf melt?

Artificial turf can melt when concentrated reflections from low E grade glass magnify the sun’s rays.

Objects in the path of the rays such as artificial turf, plants, vinyl sidings and patio furniture may be subjected to temperatures well in excess of those from normal exposure to the sun resulting in scorching and melting.

Why does glass cause artificial turf melt?

Artificial turf can melt when concentrated reflections from low E grade glass magnify the sun’s rays.

Energy efficient glass with a low E coating is flexible, meaning that when the pressure between the panes of glass is different from the atmospheric pressure, the glass is designed to deflect.

When the glass deflects inward, this creates a concave reflective surface that concentrates the reflected beam of sunlight, resulting in the glass acting like a magnifying glass.

What is Our Solution?

We use a clear perforated window film that is applied to the exterior of the glass, uniquely featuring 0.08” diameter holes comprising 50% of the surface area. This combination maximizes the vision through the holes allowing occupants inside to have a great view out and natural light to pass into the windows through the holes and clear film, and all with minimal impact to the appearance of the window.

This waterproof polymeric perforated film is quick and easy to apply to commercial and residential exterior windows, with 3+ years durability. Our film is the global leader in perforated window films, used extensively on windows worldwide.

The Impact of the Sun on Turf

Now that we've established that window films do work let's focus specifically on window film for turf – an often-overlooked benefit of installing window films.

Artificial turf, while durable and low maintenance, can be susceptible to damage from reflected sunlight. When the sun's rays hit a window, they can be reflected onto your turf, causing it to melt or discolor. This is where solar control window films come into play.

By reducing the amount of sunlight that hits your windows, these films can significantly reduce the amount of reflected light that reaches your turf. This means that your artificial grass stays in pristine condition for longer, saving you from costly repairs or replacements.

Our films block up to 99% of the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. On the outside, your home will have a more pleasing, unified look. On the inside, our films greatly reduce the level of glare for you. The windows can be the place your home is most vulnerable.  Fortunately, you can help manage both with the same films you use to control the effects of the sun  All our window films help hold your glass together when struck by the sun, helping to prevent burning and damage the sun can cause. When you choose our window films, you can be secure in knowing your artificial turf is well protected.
